Artist Profile_Born in Tokyo in 1968 Yuko Hayashi graduated from Joshibi University of Industrial Design. She then started to produce woodworking craft and received guidance in western classical gold leaf technique from Yasuo Taguchi, a professor of Tokyo University of Arts. After that she uses plastering materials, including soil, sand, and straws, to create art object. With her unique method of applying layers of plastering materials to the wooden base, the taste of soil perfectly remains in the work. While you touch them it would be like touching the soil and gives you a feeling of warmth and stability. Her work looks so quiet and simple that it could become a perfect companion for everyday life.
