Artist Profile | 1948 Born in Nara; 1974 built his own kiln in Amano, Katsuragi in Wakayama prefecture and since 1978 the celebrated master Shigeyoshi Morioka has been in numerous exhibitions throughout Japan and abroad. Currently, he is engaged in the production of Namban Yakishime and Kobiki styles. Being collected worldwide including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City in permanent, his works express the strength and softness of nature and are crackling with energy. Each piece is an exploration and a reflection of the free wheeling spirit of the artist.
