Artist Profile | Born in Tokyo in 1967 and graduated as a craft design major from Musashino University Yaku Murakami has been one of the most popular potter's in Japan since he began ceramic production. His pieces are simple, modern and include elements of wabi-sabi – embracing the beauty of the imperfect. Throughout his career, Yaku Murakami has hand-built his ceramics. He believes this method is best suited to create bowls that have a sense of ambiguity and that combine contrasting elements: be that heaviness and lightness, tension and laxation.
